Communications sector GVA at 6.6% of Belarus GDP in 2022
The communications sector Gross Value Added (GVA) accounted for 6.6% of Belarus' GDP in 2022, the press service of the Communications and Informatization Ministry told BelTA following the meeting of the board of the department.
In 2022, the communications sector GVA was at 6.6% of Belarus' GDP, including: information technologies and information services - 5%, telecommunications - 1.4%, postal service - 0.2%.
In accordance with the president's Decree No. 136 "On the public administration body in digital development and informatization" of 7 April 2022, the Communications and Informatization Ministry set up the council for digital development projects, the digital development center and the center for advanced studies. In addition, work is underway to set up the institute of digitalization offices, to change the procedure for implementing IT projects and to improve the mechanism of financial support for digital development and application of software products.
The ministry has drafted the strategy for digital development of Belarus until 2025, the concept of national sovereignty of Belarus and relevant roadmaps to them. "Along with all regulatory and strategic innovations, we continue to implement the state program ‘Digital Development of Belarus' for 2021-2025, which is the main practical tool for digital transformations in Belarus," the ministry noted.
