Chinese Ambassador shows interest in High-Tech Park project in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 2 April (BelTA) – While visiting the Vitebsk Masherov State University Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei showed interest in a project to develop a High-Tech Park in Vitebsk, BelTA informs. On 1-2 April the Ambassador met with Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets and Chairman of the Vitebsk City Hall Viktor Nikolaikin to discuss a range of promising projects which can be implemented with participation of Chinese investors. “We have also discussed the High-Tech Park project. This is an interesting project and one of the top priorities for Vitebsk,” Gong Jianwei said. He also added that the Chinese party will help create an effective area with good conditions which could attract Chinese investors and major companies from other countries. “We will create good conditions and preferences. They will come to invest on their own,” the diplomat pointed out. An important project to build the Belarusian-Chinese Industrial Park is to be implemented in Minsk, the Ambassador said. At present the project is at the stage of preparation. “The project covers a lot of economic areas. But, first of all, we need to implement a project of high technologies as it is eco-friendly and important for locals,” Gong Jianwei added. The goal of the visit to Vitebsk Oblast was to get familiar with possibilities for further development of regional business relations between China and Belarus, the diplomat noted. “Our countries have developed very good political relations for 20 years of cooperation. Our cooperation has survived a lot of difficulties in the context of ever-changing international climate. Belarus and China have become true friends. But we need to search for further possibilities to enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in economic area, which will make a good foundation for our political relations. China and Belarus have a big potential which have not been fully tapped,” the Ambassador said. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei is in Vitebsk Oblast on a three-day visit. The program of the visit includes meetings with representatives of the local authorities of Vitebsk and Polotsk, visits to the Vitebsk State University, enterprises-residents of the Vitebsk FEZ and Polotsk Dairy Plant. Mr Ambassador is also scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the Chinese photo exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Belarus-China diplomatic relations.
