Braslavskiye Zarnitsy to welcome artistic companies from eight countries
VITEBSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The Braslavskiye Zarnitsy international festival will welcome artistic companies from eight countries, BelTA learned from Galina Korotkova, head of the Culture Department of the Braslav District Executive Committee Six agrotowns of Braslav District will play host to the performances of artistic companies from Venezuela, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Estonia, and Belarus. They will forestall main events of the festival which are expected to take place on 11 June. The same day Braslav will host a gala performance and a show of historical reconstruction clubs. This show will feature medieval dances, chivalrous battles, etc. The main event of the festival will take place on Lake Drivyaty in Braslav. Visitors will enjoy magnificent nature, partake in various competitions, taste national dishes. The Braslavskiye Zarnitsy festival was held in 1953 for the first time. It is considered a successor of the song contest which was held in the early 1930s. In 2009 the festival was awarded the international status. This cultural event helps revive and promote the best national traditions, arouse people’s interest.БЕЛТА
