Braslav District to build alpine ski center

MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – There are plans to build an alpine ski center in Braslav District of Vitebsk Oblast, Vadim Karmazin, director of the tourism department of the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry, told reporters on 12 January, BelTA has learned. Braslav District will build some other tourist facilities in the near future. The Braslav District development program is in the pipeline. “Vitebsk Oblast, a northern region of the country, is promising for winter tourism development. Moreover, there are plans to upgrade an active alpine ski track in Mozyr in 2011. Famous ski resorts Silichi and Logoisk are especially popular with tourists. “Of course, there no large ski resorts in Belarus, like for example in Poland, however, existing ones attract a lot of visitors,” Vadim Karmazin stressed. He also said that about 1,200 small skating-rinks were opened in Belarus this winter.
