“Book Bridges” to connect Vitebsk and Pskov

VITEBSK, 19 November (BelTA) – The joint project “Book Bridges” will connect Vitebsk and Pskov, BelTA learnt from the Deputy Director of the Vitebsk Lenin Regional Library Ms Tatiana Adamyan. The joint project “Book Bridges” are carried out by the Vitebsk Lenin Regional Library and the Pskov Regional All-Service Scientific Library under the cooperation agreement signed by the two institutions in 2010, with a view to promoting the mutual enrichment of cultures, developing the information space, facilitating the professional development of specialists of the partner libraries. On 20-22 November, Vitebsk will welcome a delegation of the Russian region. “The visit is one of the activities envisaged in the project “Book Bridges” and a major November event for the Vitebsk librarians,” noted Ms Tatiana Adamyan. The Pskov guests will get familiar with important cultural objects of Vitebsk, the libraries and participate in the round-table “Modern Library: Facets of Cooperation.” The event is of great interest for both the sides. It will provide the opportunity to discuss innovations in library services, share their latest achievements, discuss existing issues and develop a cooperation plan for 2013. The Pskov librarians will be presented with the bio-bibliography guide of outstanding Belarusian playwright Alexei Dudarev. The edition comprises over 1,000 resources connected with the life and work of the author. Ms Tatiana Adamyan stressed the importance of cooperation between the Vitebsk and Pskov libraries. “We have developed an efficient system of experience exchange. We conduct various cultural events, develop joint targeted programs and projects aimed at the fulfillment of the cultural, information and educational potential of our oblasts. We organize regular joint events in librarianship, bibliography and book science. Debates on the issues of mutual interest let us enhance a professional level of librarians and increases the readers’ interest,” she noted.
