Bison with calf relocated to Cherikov forestry
The Cherikov forestry welcomed new additions - a bison mother and her calf, BelTA learned from the Mogilev State Forestry Production Association.
The animals were transported from the forest of the Osipovichi experimental forestry on 1 December. They endured a four-hour journey and are settling in. The bison resettlement took place under the state program Belarusian Forest for 2021-2025.
30 more animals will be relocated from the Osipovichi experimental forestry to the Cherikov forestry. A 5-hecate enclosure was created for the new settlers; the game keepers stocked hay and silage as winter feeding for the animals.
The bison will spend about 18 months in the enclosure, and then they will be released into the Cherikovsky Nature Reserve, the bison natural habitat.
