Belwest to open over 30 stores in Russia

MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – The Belwest company is set to open over 30 stores in Russia by the autumn/winter season, BelTA learnt from the Bellegprom concern. Some 20 stores will open in August; another ten stores will open in September. Today the company operates about 40 stores in the Russian Federation. This autumn the number of stores will make about 70. The Vitebsk-made shoes will be sold in Tolyatti, Kursk, Saratov, Ufa, Balakovo, Ulyanovsk, Syzran, Engels, Izhevsk, Berezniki, Perm, Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Samara. During an autumn/winter season, each Belwest store in Russia sells up to 5,000 pairs of leather footwear. The assortment will be renewed every week or twice a month. In January-July 2010, the company produced almost Br80.5 billion worth of footwear, up 17.4% over the same period a year ago. The production of consumer goods increased by 15.5% to reach BR76.6 billion. The Belwest company was founded by the Vitebsk footwear producer Krasny Oktyabr and Germany’s Salamander. In 2002, Belwest became a Belarus-Russia joint venture. The company’s core business is the production of leather footwear for men and women. In the recent years, the company expanded its lineup of fashion shoes and sports shoes. Twice a year Belwest refreshes its brand portfolio by over 50%. The company is affiliated with the Bellegprom concern.
