Belwest opens over 30 chain stores in Russia in 2010

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) - The Belwest company has opened over 30 chain stores in 28 cities of Russia this year, BelTA learnt from the Olga Klimenkova, economist of the company’s marketing department. Thus, now Belwest operates 72 chain stores in more than 50 Russian cities. This year Belwest stores have been opened in Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Izhevsk, Ufa, Belgorod, Kursk, Tolyatti, Saransk. Next week the company opens its chain store in Orsk. According to Olga Klimenkova, the company’s first chain stores were opened in Russia in 1990s. The Belarusian commodity-distribution network in the neighboring country has been making great progress over the last two years. The company presents its whole lineup in the Russian Federation. Belwest has eight chain stores in Latvia. The company has 27 stores in Belarus. In 2010 the Belarusian footwear producer has opened its stores in Brest, Gomel and Mozyr. This year the company completely renewed its New Year’s collection as compared to 2009. In January-October this year the company produced Br140.7 billion worth of products (in comparable prices), up 22.5% over the same period last year. The company produced consumer goods (in actual selling prices) worth Br134.9 billion, up 20.9%. Stocks of finished products as of 1 November made up 128.2% to the average monthly output, or nearly Br17.3 billion. In January-September the company exported $6.5 million worth of products. The Belwest company was founded by the Vitebsk footwear producer Krasny Oktyabr and Germany’s Salamander. In 2002, Belwest became a Belarus-Russia joint venture. The company’s core business is the production of leather footwear for men and women. In the recent years, the company expanded its lineup of fashion shoes and sports shoes. Twice a year Belwest refreshes its brand portfolio by over 50%. The company is affiliated with the Bellegprom concern.
