Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan plan to increase rail container traffic to China

MINSK, 5 August - Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan are set to increase the volume of rail container traffic to China. This matter was discussed during the web-based negotiations between the chiefs of the rail administrations of the three countries: Vladimir Morozov (Belarus), Oleg Belozerov (Russia) and Nurlan Sauranbayev (Kazakhstan), learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.

Vladimir Morozov and Oleg Belozerov noted a significant increase in the number of applications from Belarusian and Russian shippers for rail transportation service to China through Kazakhstan. The volume of transit traffic is recovering and the number of applications for transportation services of United Transport and Logistics Company - Eurasian Railway Alliance [ERA, a joint venture of the railways of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia] has been on the rise. "This is facilitated by the further improvement of the key parameters of rail transit traffic: high speed and on-time delivery, safety of cargo en route, environmental friendliness and convenience for customers, including the possibility of settlements in yuan," the press center said.

The heads of the three rail administrations considered proposals for the passage of increased cargo volumes across the Kazakhstan-China border, including the formation of trains of increased length and further improvement of the operation of border crossings in cooperation with Chinese Railways.
