Belarus, Indonesia discuss cooperation prospects at forum in Moscow

Belarus and Indonesia have managed to work out alternative logistics routes and maintain the supply of Belarusian potash fertilizers, Director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nikolai Borisevich said at the business dialogue EAEU-Indonesia, held on the sidelines of the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

“As far as food security is concerned, we have increased the supply of dairy products several times. This included milk powder and whey powder. Last year we signed a memorandum on cooperation in standardization to ensure the quality of such products. We will actively develop this sector,” Nikolai Borisevich said.

In his words, there are serious prospects for cooperation of both Belarus and the entire EAEU with Indonesia in mechanical engineering, because the country is one of the leaders in the production of automotive components. “There are a lot of prospects for cooperation and we should use them,” Nikolai Borisevich stressed.

According to him, Indonesia has been and remains a key partner for Belarus in the region. The director of the National Center for Marketing and Price Study said that Belarus has never had any political disagreements with Indonesia. “We always try to transform this advantage into the added value of our trade and economic relations,” he said.

According to Nikolai Borisevich, Belarus and Indonesia have a good legal framework for cooperation, an intergovernmental commission, and a joint export and import nomenclature comprising several hundred items. Talking about the prospects of signing an agreement between the EAEU and Indonesia on a free trade zone, he noted that Belarus strongly supports this initiative.

Nikolai Borisevich announced the Belarusian-Indonesian business forum that will take place at the Belarusian embassy in Russia on 26 May to discuss specific prospects of cooperation.
