Belarus harvests almost 8% of grain legumes area

Belarus has cleared 8% of the areas planted to cereals and leguminous crops, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of the morning 18 July, cereals and leguminous crops (excluding corn, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from the area of 153,800 hectares, which is 7.77% of the designated area.

Winter barley was gathered from 141,400 hectares, which is 90.3% of the plan, with 494,000 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 34.9 centners per hectare. Winter rapeseed to be used as grain has been cut from 51,900 hectares (15.6% of the designated area), with 101,800 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 19.6 centners per hectare.

Flax was pulled from 6,130 hectares, which is 14.04% of the area under this crop. Belarusian farmers made 341,300 tonnes of hay (35.5% of the target), 7,790,400 tonnes of haylage (56.9%), including 250,800 tonnes in polymeric packaging, 340,700 tonnes of grain haylage, and 194,800 tonnes of silage (1.02%).

Intermediate annual crops have been planted on the area of 90,100 hectares.

Plans have been made to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of feed units out of grass this year. So far 25.7% of the targeted amount has been made. Belarusian agricultural workers are supposed to stock up on nearly 19.2 million tonnes of silage, 13.7 million tonnes of haylage (including 1 million tonnes in polymeric packaging), and 962,100 tonnes of hay.
