Belarus gains supporters due to MPs international activity

Participation in international events allows Belarus to get its message and peace-loving policy out and thereby gain at least supporters, if not friends, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko told the media following his report to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 9 September, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the international activity of the House of Representatives, the speaker mentioned that 11 commissions for interaction with international parliamentary delegations and 40 friendship groups have been created. "Through participation in these events, we get Belarus' message and peace-loving policy out. We talk about negative effects of sanctions’ on any state. On these platforms, we eventually gain at least supporters, if not friends," Igor Sergeyenko emphasized.

Belarus' MPs continue their work within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Contacts with the parliaments of South-East Asia and Africa are being developed.

"Only this year we have stepped up contacts with the parliaments of Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, India and other countries," Igor Sergeyenko pointed out. According to him, the parliament's international activity is aimed at supporting all initiatives and economic agreements being realized between the states by parliamentary means.
