Belarus encouraged to advertise benefits of logistics centers

VITEBSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Belarus needs to advertise benefits of its transport and logistics centers for investors more vigorously, Normunds Krumins, a representative of Logistikas Partneri SIA (Latvia), told BelTA. Normunds Krumins is taking part in the Vitebsk Business Forum. According to the Latvian businessman, the Belarusian legislation set up favourable conditions to develop this kind of business. Moreover, the European transport corridors Berlin-Moscow and Helsinki-Plovdiv are on all European maps. Yet, it is necessary to move forward and advertise the benefits of transit via Belarus, Normunds Krumins said. “European transportation flows are already in shape. Funds will be required to change them. Therefore it is very important for Belarus to promote the economic benefits of re-directing the flows,” he said. Logistikas Partneri SIA showed an interest in Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant’s project to construct an international logistics center. The cost of the project is $11.6 million. The company intends to make the first transport charter flight to Orsha in early 2010.
