Belarus' CEC determines constituencies for parliamentary elections


The CEC has determined the constituencies for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation, BelTA has learned.

The resolution was adopted at the CEC session on 27 September.

“The formation of constituencies for the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is the next stage of the ongoing 2024 election campaign, which should be completed no later than 1 October 2023,” Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Igor Karpenko said. “According to Article 91 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the House of Representatives consists of 110 deputies. According to Articles 15-16 of the Electoral Code, the CEC forms 110 constituencies for the election to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus to represent the oblast executive committees and the Minsk City Hall.

Constituencies are formed to feature an approximately equal number of voters. The number of constituencies by region remained unchanged compared to the previous election campaign. The resolution contains a detailed description of the boundaries of each constituency, its name and number, the number of its voters and the location of district election commissions.

The resolution will be published on the official website of the Central Election Commission - www.rec.gov.by, as well as in the printed media.

The CEC has also carried out work on drawing the boundaries of constituencies on the public cadastral map of the Republic of Belarus.
