Back-to-school assistance provided to over 115,000 large families in Belarus
One-time financial assistance has been provided to more than 115,000 large families (223,000 children). The total amount of payments made up Br30.3 million. Work to provide back-to-school assistance continues.
Such assistance is provided regardless of the family income. The amount of assistance is Br129.9 for every student in the family.
Parents of school students can also receive assistance at their place of work from trade union organizations or employers' funds. Such assistance (more than Br10.2 million) was provided to 70,500 families with a total of 118,700 children.
Low-income families receive back-to-school financial assistance in the form of one-time or monthly social benefits within the framework of state targeted social assistance. Some 2,300 families and 6,100 children have already received such assistance (Br4.9 million). The amount of payments is determined by district commissions in every case individually, based on family income and a specific life situation.
Moreover, back-to-school giveaway events and fairs are held by social service centers, charitable foundations, public associations and religious organizations across the country to support families with children. Such assistance was provided to 8,100 families with 18,100 children (Br492,000).
In total, almost Br46 million worth of various types of assistance was provided to families to prepare children for the new academic year.
