Almost 124,000 large families open family capital deposits in Belarus

Since 2015 almost 124,000 large families have opened the deposit accounts in Belarus under the family capital program, Belarusian Labor and Social Security Minister Valery Kovalkov told the media, BelTA has learned.

"The family capital program holds a special place in the system of support for large families. Since 2020, family capital has been provided in Belarusian rubles and is index annually. This year, it equals Br29,950. Since 2015, when the program was launched, deposit accounts have been opened by almost 124,000 large families. More than $825 million and Br990 million have been credited to these accounts," Valery Kovalkov said.

In 2020, the program was modernized, the deputy minister recalled. "Today, family capital can be used ahead of schedule to improve housing conditions, receive paid medical services and education and, as from 2022, to purchase health products for persons with disabilities. Today, more than 66,000 permissions have been granted to use family capital: to improve housing conditions (84%), medical services (9%), secondary special or higher education services (7%)," he added.
