Alexander Kosinets: Vitebsk oblast, Poland have no barriers to cooperation

VITEBSK, 11 May (BelTA) – The Vitebsk oblast and Poland have no obstacles to friendship and all-round cooperation, Chairman of the Vitebsk oblast executive committee Alexander Kosinets told media after his meeting with Marshal of the Seim, Acting President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski on 9 May, BelTA has learnt. The sides discussed the issues of economic cooperation and a necessity to increase the trade turnover. In 2009 the trade between the Vitebsk oblast and Poland totaled $67 million, with the export making up $36 million and the import - $31 million. In Q1 2010 the Vitebsk oblast import from Poland reached $6.9 million, the export - $4.6 million. According to the governor, the two sides have a great potential to treble the bilateral trade. The two parties also talked over the opportunity of setting up joint ventures, developing cooperation between the twin towns, strengthening contacts in the education and cultural areas. “We have no unsettled problems. The way we have chosen gives hope for efficient and fruitful cooperation,” Alexander Kosinets believes. After the solemn celebrations of the 65th anniversary of Great Victory in Moscow, the Polish delegation consisting of almost 60 people and led by Marshal of the Seim, Acting President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski visited Smolensk to pay tribute to those killed in an air crash on 10 April.
