Alena Lanskaya leads after two contest days in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 13 July (BelTA) – The Belarusian participant of the Vitebsk 2011 Song Contest Alena Lanskaya is a leader according to the results of the two contest days, BelTA has learned. She scored 179 points out of 180. Ukraine’s Vladimir Kvasnitsa showed the second result with 174 points. David Deil from Czech Republic and Ruta from Lithuania landed third with 170 points. The six top list also includes Alisher Karimov from Kazakstan and Christina Scarlat from Moldova. The audience in Vitebsk welcomed all contestants with warm applause and provided all of them with cordial support. Two contest days are over. However, the intrigue will remain till 13 July when the jury will announce the prize winners. The Grand Prix winner will receive $10,000, a special prize LYRE and Diploma of Grand Prix Winner. The first prize makes up $9,000, the second $6,000 and the third $3,000. Partaking in the 20th International Song Contest Vitebsk 2011 are 20 singers from 20 countries. The jury is chaired by Belarus’ Culture Minister Nikolai Latushko.
