Belarusian upper house ratifies Belarus-Cuba agreement on cooperation in customs matters
The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation passed the bill “On Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Cuba” at a sitting of the second session on 12 December, BelTA learned.
The bill provides for the ratification of the agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs affairs between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of Cuba signed in Havana on 16 July 2024.
The agreement is designed to create a contractual and legal framework for bilateral cooperation between the customs services of Belarus and Cuba.
The agreement defines the basic principles and methods of cooperation in the field of customs affairs, forms of mutual assistance by customs authorities, and establishes the procedure for cooperation in sending requests and providing information to detect, suppress and investigate customs offenses.
The agreement shall facilitate prompt resolution of problematic situations in customs matters and will make it possible to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the fulfillment of tasks to protect the economic interests of the Republic of Belarus.
