Opinion: Supreme State Council meeting continued general work on Union State development

The meeting of the Supreme State Council, held on 4 November, was a continuation of the scheduled work on integration in the Union State, analyst of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research Aleksei Avdonin said in an interview with ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Today's meeting was not some extraordinary event. First of all, it is a gradual, planned work implemented by the heads of state and a large number of officials of both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,” said Aleksei Avdonin.

The political analyst noted that all the decisions taken at the Supreme State Council are aimed at improving the well-being of Belarusian and Russian citizens. “This is the main thing,” he stressed.

As BelTA reported earlier, Belarusian President, the Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the ordinance of the Supreme State Council “On the Guidelines to Implement the Union State Treaty in 2021-2023” during the Union State summit on 4 November. The document is followed by a package of 28 Union State programs, which are to become a practical basis for advancing the integration.

The summit participants also adopted the renewed Union State Military Doctrine, the migration policy concept, and the decision to award the Union State Award in science and technology.
